Looking for Singles Near You?

If you have to look up what an API is, no one’s going to judge you. If you have to look up what it stands for, again, no one will judge you. Most of us don’t know the answer to both those things. By definition, for any nerds who want to know, it stands for an Application Programming Interface. It’s a software intermediary which allows applications to talk to each other, and is used for plenty of things.

Essentially, an API lets you do lots of things. And we learned about it, thanks to Pokémon who just want to find love. 

We began our workshop night by the usual icebreaker, in which our vice president went around and asked the room as to how we spent our spring break. The usual eyebags students tend to inherit were noticeably less, explained by the fact that almost everyone had gone into voluntary comas for a week.  I humbly ask how long that would even last, but I digress.

After rounds of Jimmy John’s sandwiches and extremely intellectual discussions, we learned that we were invited to a PokéParty. These were single creatures who just wanted to mingle, and we were tasked with the most important part of the romance. The music.

Our speaker Johnnie Hernandez came right on time and saved the party by teaching us how to use the Spotify API, as well as explain what an API is and how to use it.

It was extremely interesting to listen to all sorts of things one could do with an API, and how we interact with them daily. However you use one, you’re only limited by your own imagination.
